Gateway to Improvement

Having been approved in June 2002 by the Springfield City Commission to provide a conceptual study of the South Limestone Corridor Improvement Project, Myers Schmalenberger, a landscape architecture firm, has taken on the task of redesigning Springfield’s "entryway." With innovative successes in such ventures as the West Gahanna Gateway and the Tuttle Crossing Interchange, the Columbus-based firm is prepared and uniquely qualified for the task ahead.

During the concept development phase, the firm will explore multiple design options for the corridor, involving gateway features, streetscape elements and roadway concerns. It will then present these ideas to the City and to the public for feedback. According to Tom Franzen, Economic Development Administrator for the City of Springfield, the final plan should "provide a vision of how to enhance the character and quality of the road corridor and (provide) elements of the design plan (that) can be replicated on other corridors within the city."

From lighting to landscaping, and sidewalks to signage, this creative undertaking will both transform the look of the South Limestone Corridor, and speak to the progressive changes that are happening in our downtown community.
